A foundation for generations.
Founded in 1956, Valley Christian High School grew in both academics and CCS athletics. Its soccer program competed in three distinct environments, each opening a new chapter for the Warriors.
01 / THE EARLY YEARS · THROUGH 1993
The private school era.
From the beginning of athletics at Valley Christian until 1993, the Warriors competed with small private Christian schools, including Pinewood Christian and Berean Christian. The soccer teams found success in these leagues, highlighted by a dramatic CCS victory in 1992.

02 / THE PUBLIC SCHOOL YEARS · 1993–2002
Finding a place in the BVAL.
After a tough first season against teams such as Westmont, Lincoln, San Jose, and Willow Glen, the Warriors settled into their new environment.
In their third season in the BVAL’s West Valley Division, the boys won their first league championship in 1995–96 and earned a No. 11 CCS ranking. Coaches Pablo Dillon, Jeff Wahl, and Bill Jenkins led the team during these years.

The championship brought a move to the BVAL’s Santa Teresa Division, where the Warriors remained until joining the WCAL.

03 / THE WCAL YEARS · BEGINNING IN 2002
A new stage on Skyway.
In 2002, a few years after moving to the Skyway campus, Valley Christian joined the West Catholic Athletic League. Aleks Vranicic and John Basanese were hired to coach the team, and Donny Fugate joined the staff in 2003.
In 2006, Vranicic stepped down as head coach to spend more time with his family, and Basanese took over.
The original history describes the WCAL as one of California’s strongest leagues, noting that three WCAL teams appeared in the Student Sports National Rankings’ top 50 in 2004. It lists fellow league schools Bellarmine, Mitty, St. Francis, Junipero Serra, St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart, and Riordan.
A growing record of success
The original account records more than 49 wins, a WCAL league championship, a top-five CCS ranking, and three straight CCS tournament appearances. It also lists a CCS semifinal appearance in 2002 and a quarterfinal appearance in 2003.
