Coggan double not enough to
save Warriors vs. Woodside. 11/26
A day after defeating Homestead in a
non-league match, the Valley Christian varsity took on Woodside High
School as part of the Homestead Christmas Cup. A rough game ended with
the Warriors on the short end of a 3-2 match.
The Warriors got off to a great start when
Jeff Coggan took opening kickoff and
chipped the goalie who was off his line. On the goal,
Christian de Leon got his first assist
in a young Varsity career. For Coggan, it was his second goal of
the season, and the 22nd of his illustrious career.
After the great start, the Warriors began
to struggle. Woodside scored three unanswered goals before the Warriors
began to wake up.
In a second half dominated by VC, the
Warriors came up just short after Coggan's PK made it 3-2. Coggan also
had a goal taken back on a mysterious offsides call.
The Warriors will look to rebound on Monday
12/5 against the Santa Teresa Saints in non-league action.
