Basanese named new Varsity Head Coach 3/31
After former Head Coach
Aleks Vranicic resigned last week, the
search for the new head coach started. VC has
named John Basanese, Vranicic's
assistant coach for the past four years, the successor.
The new head coach has a
deep understanding of the way things run, and will look to take over
exactly where Vranicic left off.
"Do I see big changes
coming now that I'm the head coach? Not at all. Aleks and I
always worked together, and the vision for this program has always been
a shared idea. I don't think there will be any major changes on that level."
Basanese said.
Basanese did concede some
changes would be in store for one of the WCAL's top teams.
"However, I'm going to
select
my staff with the intention of taking this thing to the next level.
We have a solid core here at VC, and I really believe that all the
pieces are in place to have a great team next year, and in the future."
"I feel humbled and blessed
to have been given this opportunity, and I'm very thankful to Eric
Scharrenberg, and Valley Christian. The school believes in me and
my program, and I'm anxious to repay them for that." Basanese concluded.
A meeting at the school
with all soccer players will be coming before the end of the school
year. At this meeting, several items related to off-season training
and next season will be discussed.
