Coggan and Keeling named team
captains 11/9
The team has elected Jeff
Coggan and Austin Keeling as team captains. The vote took place at
the season's first team dinner at Coach Basanese's house.
Austin Keeling
Austin Keeling is entering his 3rd season with the Warriors. His
last minute goal last season against Junipero Serra sent VC to the CCS
playoffs for the 3rd consecutive season.
"Austin has always been a
great example at practice and during the games. He's a great kid
who the kids look up to. He's a tremendous player with a lethal
shot, and he figures to have a breakout season for us," Basanese
commented.
Jeff Coggan
In his 4th season on the
varsity, Jeff Coggan becomes captain. With 20 career goals, and 21
assists, Coggan takes a leadership role that has been coming naturally
to him.
'Jeff's ability speaks for
itself, but his leadership skills are relatively unknown, for now.
He's a great leader who has the respect of his teammates. Austin
and him are going to make great captains!" Basanese concluded.
"This team is full of
leaders, and though we have captains whose job it is to lead, you don't
need to be a captain to be a leader for us," Coach Vranicic added.
The captains will take
turns writing a 'Captain's Log' entry weekly. Stay tuned for more.
