Dan Benton Named New JV Head Coach 10/17
To replace popular JV coach, Ronnie
Jenkins, the VC Soccer program has selected
Dan Benton. Dan plays professional soccer for the United
Soccer League (USL) team,
Charlotte
Eagles.
Dan's team made it to the Championship game
this season, where they lost to the Richmond Kickers. The game was
featured on Fox Soccer Channel, and Dan was the starting goalkeeper.
Dan will look to build on what Ronald
established last year with the JV team. He's very excited to meet
everyone at tryouts!
"I've extremely excited to have Dan joining
our program. He's been involved in youth soccer before, and his
playing accolades speak for themselves. Dan is a great Christian
guy, and the kids will love him. The JV team has been making great
strides recently, and I'm confident that Dan will continue to lead the
team forward. This is a great day for VC Soccer!"
Coach Basanese said.
Dan played his Division I college soccer
locally at San Jose State University. He has been involved in 1 on
1 training with several goalkeepers in the area, and done camps as well.
On the personal side, Dan recently married
Laura Scott (now Benton) who is a VC teacher, and Water Polo coach.
An announcement on the assistant JV coach
will be coming soon! Stay tuned to the website. |
