Coach Basanese Names 2008-09 Captains
John Basanese named captains yesterday at the end of practice yesterday.
Each year 3 players are selected who will be tasked with not only
leading vocally, but by example on the field and off the field.
"I think that being a captain is a huge responsibility," Basanese said.
"These three are the guys who have shown the ability to lead through
their actions, and I have the highest expectations for them in this
regard."
The team this season has eight seniors, all of whom are expected to be
leaders themselves, whether or not they wear the captain's armband.
"We really need to have our seniors step up this year. We have an
opportunity to be really strong, but we need the leadership to extend
beyond the three we selected as captains." Basanese concluded.
This year's captains are Jake Joseph,
Britt Nelson, and
Austin Mansker.
