Valley Christian looks to build on the success of '03
The 03-04
Boys soccer team finished 17-3-5, and completed a WCAL championship
season with a quarterfinal loss in the CCS playoffs. The boys team loses
6 seniors, but will return a team boasting a star goalie(Ben Hansen-2nd
Team All-WCAL), and playmaker(Jeff Coggan-2nd Team All-WCAL and CCS
Sophomore of the Year). Both will be juniors this season.
Returning
starters include standouts Ryan Corry, Garret Ruiz, Andrew Smith, and
Cole Bales. Key offensive losses leave the Warriors looking for
replacements up top. Joey Stryker, Chase Harrell, Austin Keeling, and
Chris Zambataro all return and will look to replace graduated WCAL 1st
teamers Jim Coggan and Ron Jenkins. The hole left by Jim(17 goals, 13
assists, WCAL Player of the Year, 1st team WCAL&CCS), and Ron(14 goals,
7 assists, 1st team All-WCAL) is considerable.
Non-league
games versus Gunn, Los Gatos, Santa Cruz, and Leigh will challenge the
Warriors before heading into a treacherous league schedule.
