Former Valley Christian standouts open their college accounts
Brandon Stirm and Chris Hansen have joined Don Dequine(03) at Azusa
Pacific University(APU). APU is currently ranked #7 in the NAIA, and
boasts a 6-0-1 record. Stirm has demolished expectations, immediately
figuring into Phil Wolf's starting lineup. Brandon has scored 2 game
winning goals, and has added several assists. Stirm, who was a second
team All-WCAL selection for VC, and one of its leaders is doing all he
can to take the success in stride. "I am having fun and trying to do
what I can to gel with the team. The goals are coming, but what matters
are the wins for us right now."
Donny Dequine scored in a 6-1 drubbing of Concordia(OR). His header over
the opposing keeper put the game at 3-0. Donny, who started 15 games as
a true freshman continues to factor into his coach's plans. "I am
growing as a player, there were adjustments to be made. I hope to
contribute in the midfield and up top all year", remarks Dequine.
VC sweeper Chris Hansen is redshirting for APU, and is looking for his
chance next year. The same goes for perennial scoring threat, and 1st
Team All-WCAL striker Ronald Jenkins at SJSU.
VC star Jimmy Coggan is travelling with his NCAA 24th ranked Seattle
Pacific Falcons to Florida where he figures to get time on the pitch. A
defensive style has slowed Jim's transition, but his form has impressed
coaches and fans in Seattle. SPU is currently 4-1-1
