Kevin McIntire to Lead Junior Varsity
Junior Varsity coach Dan Benton has decided to continue his coaching
career at San Jose State University, with the men's soccer program.
Dan has coached the JV for two seasons, and will be missed by the
program. Everyone at VC wishes Dan the best of luck in his new
endeavor!
To replace Dan, John Basanese has selected his former assistant, Kevin
McIntire. Kevin has served as Dan's assistant for two years, and
also has coaching experience in the Junior High at Valley. Coach
McIntire also graduated from Valley Christian and played for the
program, a theme that is consistent through the program with all boys
coaches having played their high school soccer at VC.
Coach Basanese feels that Kevin can step in right where Dan left off and
continue to improve things.
"Kevin is a vocal leader who has a rapport with the kids. When Dan
told me he had to step down, Kevin was the obvious choice. I like
the way he interacts, and feel strongly about his coaching abilities.
This was the natural progression for Kevin, and we're happy that he's
agreed to step up," Basanese said.
Kevin and the coaching staff will be working on finding an assistant JV
coach to work with him.
